The Art of Fine Breeding is a contest in which Jersey enthusiasts worldwide will select a representative daughter of seven of the breed's most influential contemporary sires for inclusion in a commissioned piece of artwork.
The winning daughter of each sire will be a part of the historical work of art, which will be unveiled at The All American Jersey Show and Sale in Louisville, Ky., this November.
The sires included in this contest are seven of Select Sires' greatest Jersey successes in recent years - Sooner, Duncan, Sambo, Jace, Berretta, Barber and Centurion. The five nominated daughters of each sire were selected after consulting with several of the breed's most knowledgeable influencers around the globe.
Here's where you come in. . .you help to decide which cows will be included in The Art of Fine Breeding by casting your vote for the cows you feel have made the most significant impact on the breed.
Select Sires and the Jersey Journal invite you to cast your vote online by clicking on the tabs above, in person at the AJCA-NAJ Annual Meeting or by returning the ballot published in the May issue of the Jersey Journal.
Voting ends at midnight on June 28, 2008, and will coincide with the conclusion of the 2008 AJCA-NAJ Annual Meetings in Asheville, North Carolina.
The Art of Fine Breeding will be auctioned during the festivities of The All American Jersey Show and Sale and all proceeds will be donated to the Maurice E. Core Youth Fund. Additional portraits will also be made available for purchase, with all proceeds going to the Core Youth Fund as well.
